Newskool Demo

  • All current platforms –  see Amiga/Oldschool demo below for alternative platforms.
  • Please include an info file
  • You must include a resolution selector in the demo – and your demo must at least support 1280 x 720 resolution (Windows/Mac/Linux)
  • Check the Compo machine specs

Amiga / Oldskool demo

  • This compo is for Amiga 1200/4000 060 or older hardware
  • Other platforms (C64, Atari, SNES, etc.) are also allowed – bring your own hardware!
  • Very important: We use a Framemeister to show and the oldschool entries. Framemeister does not work well with screenmode switches (eg. switching to interlaced mode on Amiga). Please read the Framemeister info on this page – and talk to us before the compo.
  • If your entry does not run on the Amiga configurations we provide you will have to bring your own device AND the proper cables to hook up to our video setup. Contact us if you have any questions!
  • There must be at least 3 entries or the compo will be merged with the regular demo compo.

64kb intro

  • All platforms
  • We will have separate oldskool / newskool compo if there are enough entries
  • Please include an info file
  • Size limit: 64kb in one (exe) file
  • You must supply at least a 1280 x 720 resolution version of the .exe file (Windows/Mac/Linux)

4kb intro

  • All platforms
  • We will have separate oldskool / newskool compo if there are enough entries
  • Please include an info file
  • Size limit: 4kb in one (exe) file
  • You must supply at least a 1280 x 720 resolution version of the .exe file (Windows/Mac/Linux)

Attention oldschool and exotic-hardware demo makers!

For “exotic” hardware such as SNES, C64, Ataris and whatnot: bring your own devices!

Framemeister information

For oldschool hardware, we’re using a Framemeister in order to scale and convert analog video signals to digital signals. Input options of the Framemeister are (starting with the best quality):

  • D-Terminal (used in Japanese consoles)
  • Scart/RGB
  • S-video
  • Composite

Very importantly: The Framemeister does not like resolution changes during display, which will break the signal for a few seconds. An example of this would be switching between interlaced and non-interlaced mode on Amiga. Don’t do it 🙂

  • We have cabling for Amigas to provide best possible quality via the Framemeister.
  • For other hardware as e.g. C64, please bring S-video cable
  • Last resort is using composite – which does provide a decent image quality via the Framemeister
